PARA
The MCC Para Program is designed for individuals with physical disabilities to participate in the sport of Canoe and Kayak. Individuals will have the opportunity to paddle in kayaks and outrigger canoes with guidance from skilled coaches. MCC will provide participants with boats and equipment.
Athletes looking to pursue high level competition will undergo ‘classification’- a standard practice in parasport which separates individuals by disability type to promote fair competition.
The MCC Para Canoe program has two ‘streams’. Our ‘Competitive’ Stream is designed for athletes who would like to learn more about training and racing, with the goal of competing at local, provincial, and national level competition. Our ‘Recreational’ Stream is designed for athletes who would like to learn about our sport, gain fitness, and enjoy being outdoors on the water in an inclusive environment
