PARA

The MCC Para Program is designed for individuals with physical disabilities to participate in the sport of Canoe and Kayak. Individuals will have the opportunity to paddle in kayaks and outrigger canoes with guidance from skilled coaches. MCC will provide participants with boats and equipment.

Participants should be able to sit upright and be able to hold the paddle with both hands meaning our program is geared to individuals with lower body impairments. Given you don’t need to be able to run or walk, Paracanoe is an ideal sport for people with limited use of their lower body.

Individuals will have the opportunity to paddle in kayaks and outrigger canoes with guidance from skilled coaches. MCC will provide participants with boats and equipment.

There will be opportunities for individuals to race at local competitions throughout the summer season. Athletes looking to pursue high level competition will undergo classification – a standard practice in parasport which separates individuals by disability type to promote fair competition.
