Friends of Missy

Great athletes are built one stroke at a time — but none of it happens without the right equipment beneath them.

From first-time Youth Racing athletes discovering confidence on the water, to national team hopefuls training for the world stage, our boats are the foundation of every practice, every breakthrough, and every dream chased on the Credit River.

The Friends of Missy Campaign is an opportunity for our community to directly impact the next generation of paddlers by helping us grow and modernize the fleet that supports our Development, Sprint Masters, and High Performance programs.

These boats are not luxuries. They are essential tools that will be used daily — from sunrise training sessions to evening practices — by athletes who represent the future of our club and Canadian paddling.

With your support, we can:

● Give developing athletes access to safe, modern equipment

● Help high-performance athletes train at an international standard

● Continue building one of Canada’s strongest paddling communities

● Ensure more athletes of all ages can experience the confidence, discipline, friendship, and opportunity this sport creates

Every contribution, big or small, moves us closer to putting these boats on the water where they belong.

Together, we can help the next generation of Mississauga Canoe Club athletes paddle farther, faster, and with confidence.

How your donation helps

  • Nelo C2

Our last C2 purchase was in 2016. With a large group of high-performance athletes currently training with aspirations of competing on the international stage, we are in need of a new C2. There is an opportunity to purchase a C2 at a discounted price at the upcoming Junior/U23 World Championships in Dartmouth this summer.
    Approximate cost is $8,000 CDN

  • Nelo K4 Viper

Our Development and Sprint Masters require a stable K4 to ensure fun racing and proper technique. Over the past few years, Nelo has developed a stable K4 to provide a boat suited for speed and stability. This Nelo K4 Viper is the perfect boat for the years ahead.
    Approximate cost is $10,000 CDN

  • Nelo K2

We have a number of 'bigger/older' athletes paddling kayaks in our program currently, and our fleet of K2S is just a little too small. There is an opportunity to purchase a K2 at a discounted price at the upcoming Junior/U23 World Championships in Dartmouth this summer.
    Approximate cost is $8,000 CDN

  • Vajda Apex K1 & Plastex Cadet C1

In the past few years, we have had a very good increase in the number of developing high-performance athletes. Our fleet of entry-level single canoes and kayaks is dated. These boats get used from sunup to sundown in our Youth Racing, Development, High Performance, and Sprint Masters Programs.
Approximate cost is $4000 CDN each
