Mississauga Summer Camp at MCC

Mississauga Canoe Club’s Canoe Kids Summer Camp is a skill development program designed to introduce the community’s youth aged 7 – 12 years old to the sport of Olympic sprint canoe and kayak. Delivered by qualified instructors, we maintain an instructor participant ratio of 1:5 with the emphasis placed on learning the paddling fundamentals and skills in a fun-filled environment.

The Intro to Sprint Program is a three-week introduction to competitive sprint canoe-kayak for athletes aged 14 and under. Paddlers will progress through all the basic skills of sprint paddling, learn water safety rules and how to balance, paddle and train in sprint kayaks and canoes. Participants will learn competition rules and have an opportunity to race at a fun, local regatta. Training will be both on and off the water.

No prior canoeing or kayaking experience required. Participants should be confident swimmers.

The Mississauga Canoe Club will provide paddle equipment and boats. Campers must arrive with their own appropriately sized personal floatation device (PFD), sunscreen, water bottle and lunch/snacks if full-day.

Campers are to check in no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of the camp session and are required to be picked up from the canoe club promptly at the end of the session.  

Swimming Requirement: Canadian Red Cross Swim Kids Level 6 or equivalent.
