MCC Making Waves for Autism
Making Waves for Autism
On Saturday May 24, members from the Mississauga Canoe Club will be taking part in the Making Waves for Autism initiative in support of Autism Canada. Our event along with others taking place around Canada will raise funds for families facing the challenges of Autism and raise awareness for Autism Canada. Making Waves for Autism was initiated by former Missy member and several times Canadian Champion Kim Inglis. We are also proud of Olympic Champion Katie Vincent who is an ambassador for Making Waves for Autism.
The Challenge that we have chosen is for members of our club to paddle 365 km total on May 24. ‘365’ is significant as it symbolizes the challenges that families face 365 days a year. Each paddler participating from the MCC will keep track of their individual kilometers and we will add them to the club total. Our goal as a club is to complete 365 km.
We are looking forward to all of our members getting out on the water, tracking their kilometers and sharing the Making Waves for Autism fundraising links within our community.
Our event on Saturday May 24 will start at 9am and wrap up at 11:30am with a Missy BBQ. All BBQ proceeds will support Making Waves for Autism.
